Topic: Strengthen the Roots
Scripture: The root of the righteous cannot be moved. – Proverbs 12:3, NIV
When winds and storms blow a tree back and forth, it puts pressure and strain on the root system. Rather than damage the tree and make it weaker, researchers have discovered that it strengthens the root system. It seems as though the stretching and pulling would tear the roots, but it’s loosening the soil and making it easier for the roots to grow. The storms make the tree stronger.
That’s what God does for us. What was meant for our harm, He says He will turn and use for our advantage. The difficulty should have toppled you, damaged your roots, caused you to come out weaker, but it was just the opposite. You came out of that challenge stronger, with greater confidence, and your character was developed. The sickness, the broken relationship, the business that failed, or the mistake you made was meant to defeat you, but God used it to strengthen you. When it’s all said and done, you’re not only going to still be standing, but you’re going to be better than you were before. Your roots are going to be stronger.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for giving me the promise that because my roots are in You, I will not be moved. Help me to sink my roots of faith deeper in You and to trust in Your faithfulness. I declare that the storms and the winds I face are only making me stronger. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
TODAY’S INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE: Imagine how David felt when he was chosen to face Goliath. That didn’t make sense. He could have thought, “This is not God choosing me; this is the devil trying to get me killed.” Goliath was twice his size. He had more training, more armor, more experience. But God doesn’t call you without equipping you. What you have may seem small in comparison to what you’re up against.
Just a sling shot, a few stones, but when God breathes on it, it will bring down giants. God’s favor on your sling shot is more powerful than an army coming against you. Don’t talk yourself out of your dreams; talk yourself into your dreams. “This giant may be big, but I know I’ve been chosen. God wouldn’t have allowed it if I wasn’t well able. I can do all things through Christ.”
